CHRISTCHUBOH, Lasb Night. Hempton, a commission agent, has levanted, it is supposed on Saturday, leaving several promissory notes, which have been discoveiud to be forgeries. Tw o purport to be signed by Jas. Martin, blacksmith, for £258 and i'7B, another purports to bear the signatiue ot Mr Emp&on, malster, for £196. No trace ot Hempton has yet been discovered.
DUNEDIN, Last Night. The Sorrento ai lived m Adelaide on Thursday. She calls at Melbourne and Sydney, and then loads 250 tons of frozen meat here. She leaves here for London direct.

WELLINGTON, La&t Night. A heavy N.W. gale was blowing this morning ; no damage whatever is repot ted. The Stella will leave Wellington tomorrow for Taranaki and Manukau, conveying the Piemier and his family to the latter place, and the Colonial Treasurer to the foimer. Mr Lewis is progressing favorably, although not yet considered out of danger. The Lowl Mayor of London writes to Secretary ot the local committee for the lelief of the persecuted Jews in Russia, acknowledging the leccipt of £300 towards this fund.
