DUNEDIN, Last Night. Patrick Brown, single, a l.ibourer, has been killed by a fall of eaith at the Monungton tramway woiks. Jane Elizabeth Grey, 22 years of asc, attempted suicide at the Ocean Beach yesterday. She was observed to place a, bottle to her lips, and then dash into the waves. She was lescued with some difficulty, and in an exhausted condition. On examination at the hospital no tiace of poison was found. No reason is assigned for the act. On the Court resuming in the l\ipakaio murder case, it was intimated that theie was no probability of the jury agieeing. The jury were then discharged. Beattie was removed to custody. It has been asceitained that eight of the juty weie for acquittal and six for conviction.
