ALEXANDRA DRAMATIC CLUB.
The above Dramatic Club gave another entertainment in the Alexandra Public Hall on Friday evening last, which may be termed the most successful they have given as yet. The pieces which were selected were the light comedy " Pcrfec tion," and " Nan, the Good-for-nothing." Apparently no pains had been spared by the members to make the performance a thorough success ; and in this they admirably succeeded. The audience was large and appreciative, and the music contributed by the Alexandra Band greatly enlivened the proceedings. The stage and scenery had been completely renovated for the occasion, and the new drop-scene, painted by the club's scenic artist, Mr Helps, was very attractive. The opening comedy, " Perfection," went off without a hitch from beginning to end. The following is the caste :—": — " Sir Lawrence Paragon," Mr G. A. Ahier ; "Charles Paragon" (his nephew), Mr Grierson ; Servant to Charles, Mr Charlton ; Kate OBrien" (the heiress), Miss R. Allen ; "Susan" (Lady's Maid), Miss J. Finch. The applause which followed each act must have greatly stimulated the actors, Miss Allens acting being porticularly appreciable. The acting of Miss J. Finch was likewise very successful. In "Nan, the Good-for-nothjlig," the caste was : "Tom Dibble" (a gar^her), MrC.Hallet; "Harry Collier' (a railway fireman), Mr J. Charlton ; "Charley" (a carpenter), Mr W. M. Chappell ; " Young Mr Simpson," Mr C. Haifa; servant, Mr Boyle; "Nan, the good for nothing," Miss J. Finch. It was generally understood that this piece would be better than the comedy which preceded it. Mr C. Rallet, as Tom Dibble, kept the audience in roars of laughter throughout the entire piece This gentleman is a new comer, and possesses good dramatic talent, and his make-up on this occasion was really excellent. The various other parts taken by the gentlemen were equally well sustained. Miss Finch, as "Nan, the good for nothing," acquitted herself creditably well, earning the repeated bursts of applause with which her acting was occasionally greeted. There is little doubt that n more pleased and satisfied audience have never before assembled in the Alexandra Hall than on this occassion. A very enjoyable dance followed the performance, and was kept up with spirit until morning, the Alexandra band supplying the mxisic. — [Own Correspondent.]
