THE FIRST SESSION OF SPECIAL COMMISSION- IN IRELAND. (Suez Mail News.)
Loxdox, August 25. Tut, fiist session of the Special Commission held at Dublin under the Prevention of Grimes Act, ended on the 12th inst. Convictions were obtained in six cases with trial by jury. In eight instances two leaders of gangs of murderers were sentenced to death, the others to long terms of penal servitude. Irish agitation has entered on a new_ phase. Theie has been agreat inauguration of the Irish Labor Union, under the auspicies of Parnell, Davitt, Dillon and McCarthy. The object is the acquisition of plots of ground, and improved dwellings for labourers, changes in land, in order to facilitate acquirement of plots by occupants, reform of Parliamentary sulferage in favor of labourers, and encouragement of native industry.
