The woik had been shamefully performed, and he (the Mayor) would like to have an opportunity of exposing the conduct of those who should have seen to it. Mr Breakell intended to uncover some of the pipes to see whether the specifications had been adhered to. — Nothing decisive was done in the matter.

He could not give the required information. The council had as much to do with the Public Hall as the tius>tec3 had -with the business of the borough. All he could say was that three individuals were personally liable for the money expended in the erection of the hall over and above the amount received from S. Peter's Vestry.

Rktken'cidiext. — At the suggestion of O. Peat, who reminded the council that the funds weie very low, it was decided to dispense \\ ifch the services of the extra dayman, retaining only the borough workman.

Mketino Nifiirrs — Cr.
