t Auckland; Last Night. \' The Markets. Thk market prices for butter and eggs remain unchanged, both being plentiful,
Retail values shown in the market list are : Butter, Is 3d ; eggs, Is a dozen. In the hay and corn market there are several important alterations from last weeks' prices. Coast maize has advanced, and is now quoted from 4s 9d to 5s per bushel, wholesale, and from 5s to 5s fid, retail. There is an indication of a general lise of sixpence per bushel. Gum sales continue steady at last Fridays' prices. Timber is scarce, and dearer by sixpence per hundred feet ; first-class being 15s.
Pakuranga Hunt Club Races. Right of admission to the Pakuranga Hunt Club Races realised £73 ; the 1 ight to sell refreshments, £36.
Police Alterations. Instructions have been received for the transfer of Sergt-Major Pardy to New Plymouth, .Sergt-Major Goodall replacing him here.
Supreme Court. At the Supreme Court to-day, George Dawson, for cattle stealing, was sentenced to ten years. The remainder of the day was occupied with a charge against three boys for maliciously breaking a window. They were found guilty.
