A young man named BlacUedge, who ariived by the Kotorua from Oamarn, and took up his residence ut the Brick - layer Arms, is missing It is feared he has committed suicide.

Mr Dick s Movements. Mr Dick, Colonial Secretary, visited the Girl's High School to-day for the purpose of making arrangement's for the erection of a suitable building on the Howe-street Industrial Reserve.

A Wretched Hoax. Some verdant residents of TVhangarei has been made the victims of a sad hoax. They were waited upon by a man claiming to have found payable gold at Hikurangi. Two gentlemen accompanied him on Sunday, and after about nine hours in the saddle returned disappointed. The man still promising to produce specimens, a little fiu'ther time was given him, but their patience becoming exhausted lie was arrested on a charge of obttiining money under false pretences, receiving a sentence of two mouths' imprisoment.

The Markets. The produce market is very dull this week. The weekly market price list is only very slightly altered from that of last Friday. Butter add eggs remain unchanged at last week's figures.
