KUMARA, Last Night. A miner named James Baird, when going down the ladder of a shaft at Larrikin's terrace, missed his hold and fell 45 feet. He was conveyed to the hospital, and died an hour later. He was aged 53.
WANGANUI, Last Night. Hori Taui i, chief of Taupo, has refused to accompany Mr Bryce, Native Minister, bat will take Mr S. A. Browne, C.E., of Wellington, through the territory, in connection with the central railway and opening up of the interior.
WELLINGTON, Last Night. Mr Clayton, the purchaser of the old Telegraph office, sustained a serious injury this morning by falling timber.
CHRISTCHURCH, Lust Night. The Times this morning says:—"lt is rumored that unless Mr Rolleston, member for Avon, shortly signifies his intention of giving his constituents an account of his stewardship, several of the electors will formally ask their member to state what he has done for the district during the last session, and what his present views are upon the West Coast Railway and other important matters.
