The Operations Against Damietta.— Surrender of the Garrison.— The Policy of Russia. Release of Prisoners. Alexandria, September 21. The British ironclads have commenced to ahell Fort Ghemeleh at Damietta. Later. Major-General Sir Evelyn Wood has been ordered to proceed with three regiments to Damietta, to co-operate with the fleet in the assault on that place. The latest reports to hand states that Abdelhh has left Damietta for Cairoa, and that the rebel garrison has now yielded. September 22. The expedition under Sir Evelyn Wood, comprising three British regiments, lias started for Damietta to cooperate with the floet in the attack on that place. No confirmation has yet been received of the report that the rebel garrison had yieided.
