CAMBRIDGE WEST SCHOOL. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir. —Some time ago an assistant teacher ! was appointed to the Cambridge West School, and under her tuition the children have got on well with their lessons. She has also given great satisfaction to parents, the head teacher and the local committee by her attention to her duties. About six weeks ago the Board of Education in Auckland sent a notification to the local committee, saying as she had not passed her examination they intended to dismiss her, asking if the committee had any suggestions to make. The latter wrote in reply that they wished her to be retained at least till the end of the year, but by the same post the board notify the teacher that her engagement should oease, ihns making the local committee mere nonenties, not only going against their expressed-wish to retain her, but also against that of all the parents of the children who signed a memorial in favour lof her remain. Bnfc the committee have determined they have'nbt heard the last of it,, as it is their intention to memoralize r the^Minister'bf^Education, through. their member re their foregone decision on her dismissal.—~l,am, &c., * . ,*/-** ' V < -'-■• -Pabent. *■-.. , Cambridge'West,,Sept. 13th., -• *«'
