HORSE A CCIDENTS.
We have to record two painful horse accidents which occurred on Sunday. The first happened to Mr James Martin, tailor, of Hamilton. He was on his way from Te Awamutu homo, and when near Green Hill (Mr W. Taylors) his horse showed signs of skittishnesa and e\ eiitually bolted. Mr Martin was thrown off, and sustained a fracture of the left leg below the knee, in addition to a number of cuts and biuises on his face, arms, and other parts of his body. Fortunately, Mr Sloane, of Te Awamutu, happened to pass the spot soon after the accident, and had the sufferer conveyed into the township. Yesterday morning he was brought down to Hamilton by train, and the services of Dr Carey were procured. The doctor set the broken limb and attended to the other injuries, but we understand that it is Mr Martin's intention to proceed to the Auckland Hospital. Great sympathy is felt for Mr Martin under the misfortune which has befallen him. On the same day Constable Grilhes met with a sinulai, though by no means so serious un accident, also in the neighborhood of Te Awamutu. It appears that the constable had been to Alexandra on business, and was returning about 4 o'clock in the afternoon when his horse shied and threw him. He lay insensible for some time, having sustained slight concussion of the brain, but eventually was able to reach Te Awamutu. His other injuries are slight, and it is expected that he will not be long incapacitated . He is under the care of Dr Blunden.
