PROPOSED CHURCH FOR T AM AH ERE.
The committee appointed at a meeting held on the 14th inst., 1 met at the Tamahero Hotel on Monday last for the purpose oi selecting ;i site for the building. Tln-re were present : Messrs Jno. Mailyn, juur., \V. A. Graham, Main, Barugh, Wheeler, S. S. Gr.iliam, Camp, and Robertshaw, MiS. S Giah.nn was voted to the chair, and Mr Robertshaw was requested to act as secretaiy. The chairman explained the object of the meeting, and read a letter trom Archdeacon Willis apologising for abseuce and rccoimnunding committee to choose Mr Martin's corner if they could get it. After some little discussion about sites it was proposed by Mr Wheeler and seconded by Mr J. T. Camp, that the comer offered by MrMartyn be accepted. Can ied. Mr W. A. Graham moved and Mr Wheeler seconded a vote o f thanks to Mr Martyn tor his liberal gift. -VI r Graham felt that Mr Martyn had conceded a great deal in parting with such a valuable piece of property. Tho motion was carried. The secretary waa then asked to read over a list of subscribers, .and record moneys promised, which amounted to £IG7, and several more subscriptions that weie not down yet. The tvv'O plans for the church were then submitted to the meeting, viz : — The bishop's plan and the plan of the Waiuku church, sent by Mr Wrigley, of Auckland, prior to his death. After some discussion on their merits it was decided to adopt Mr Wrigley's plan, the price suiting better for the present. A tender from Mr Evans for £275 was accepted, Mr Evans to add belfry, sloped back seats, and chancel inclusive. The bell, value of £10 10s has been promised by Messrs T. and S. Morrin of Auckland. Proposed by Mr J. T. Camp, and seconded by Mr W. A. Graham, that the secretary and contractor draw out specifications to be submitted to committee on that day foitnight, at 7 p.m., at the Taniahero Hotel. Carried. Proposed by Mr J. T. Camp, and seomled by Mr W. A. Graham — "That tho following be a working committee : —The Rev. W. N. de L. Willis, Messrs S. S. Graham, W. A. Graham, Wheeler, Main, J. Martyn, Barugh, Chas Ewen, Gamp, and Robertshaw." — Carried. Proposed by Mr J. Martyn, and seconded by Mr Barugh — "That Mr S. S. Graham be treasurer, and that an account be opened in the Bank of New Zealand." — Carried. Proposed by Mr W. A. Graham, and seconded by Mr Camp—" That Mr Roborls>haw be secretary. " — Carried. Proposed by Mr W. A. Graham, and seconded by Mr Barugh — "That the Rev. Mr Willis, Messrs Wheeler, Barugh, J. Martyn, S. S. Graham, Camp, and Robertshaw be the building committee." — Carried. Proposed — "That the Bishop be thanked for his plans and kindness, and informed that the committee deemed the outlay too much for the present. " A vote of thanks to the chair brought the meeting to a close. — (Correspondent.)
