THE AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN IN ENGLAND. (REUTERS TELEGRAMS.) London, August, 18.
i The cricket match between the Australian team and the united eleven of the South of England was resumed at Portsi mouth to-day. The weather was again very fine, and a very lai'ge number of spectators visited the ground during the day. Great interest is being taken in the match. The Australians, with one wicket down, continued their first inuiugs, which closed for 141. The highest scorers were : Blackham, caught, 35 ,• Bannerman, lbw, 26 ; and Horan, bowled, 18. The bowling of the Englishmen was very destructive, and their fielding was excellent. The Home , team then commenced their second innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day had scored 127 for the loss of six wickets.
London, August 19. The return cricket match between the Australians and the United South of England was resumed to-day at Portsmouth. There was again a* large attendance, and the "weather was very fine.
