Missing Schooner. Auckland, Last Night. Tiif schooner Cuthona, which left Port Chalmers for Auckland on June 20th, has not been heard of since. She is 38 clays out, or about 30 days longer than is usually occupied in the passage. The Cuthona is in charge of Captain Gilford.
The Gas Company. The Gas Company lias declared a dividend of 8s 6d per share. At the meeting it was stated that the directors had no fear of competition arising from the electric light. Their consumers weie increasing rapidly.
Heavy Rains. The heavy rains last night caused little lakes in various parts of the city. The sawmill owners expect favorable reports o r J freshes at the coastal bushes.
Daring Burglary. At about 10.30 last night a daring burglary was committed on the premises of Mr Solomon Reid, grocer, Kyber Pa&s. At that hour Mrs Martin, wife of the head master of the Grafton Road school, was passing the shop in company with her son, when she noticed several men running away. Mr Reid was apprised of the circumstance, and on examination it was found that one of the panels of the door had been removed, and several pounds worth of goods stolen from the shop.
Auckland Markets. Quotations to-day s>how a rise to 7d and 7jd in the wholesale price of local cheese, while Canterbury is stated to be at 8d to Ski. There is no Adelaide flour in the market, but (Southern is quoted at the improved price of £12 10s all round. Maize has receded in price, the wholesale figures for Fijian being 4s 9d to ss, for for coastal, 4s 3d to 4s Gd. Oats have fallen slightly, and now stand at 3s Gd to 3s Sd, while the retail price varies from 4s to 4s 3d. Gum has improved in price.
The Case against Samuel Joy. Samuel Joy, of Ngaruawahia, was brought before the Police Court to-day, and on the application of the police, avlio stated that the certificate of the former marriage had to come from Wellington, was remanded until Friday.
