LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT.]
Auckland, Last Night. Two bushmen named Cornelius OBrien and James Mclvor, were arrested to-day for brutally assaulting a man named j Robert Mclvor in the Foresters Arms Hotel. Notwithstanding the recent heavy rains several coastal mills are without timber owing to the want of freshes. A man named iJohn Pitcorn, employed on the cutler Trail, fell overboard in the harbor to-day, and was drowned. The poll tax of £10 was enforced against the Chinese cook aboard the schooner Sybil, which arrived from Japan to-day. The barque Colleen lias arrived from London.
