NEWCASTLE HIGHWA Y DISTRICT,

The nomination of candidates for the offices of trustees and auditors for this district for the ensuing year took place on Thursday under the Local Elections Act. Mr T. Y. Fitzpatrick acted as returning officer. The following were nominated as trustees : — Messrs A. Dawson, C. Day, C. Limmer, W. Macreadie, W. Shepherd and TV". Washer. There being one in excess of the number required, a poll will be taken at the school-house, Whatawhata, on Saturday, the 29th inst., between the hours of 9 a.m and 6 p.m. The only candidates nominated for the offices of auditors were Messrs A. Crawford and E. Fitzpatrick, and there being two required, the gentlemen named were declared duly elected.
