THE COLONIAL DEFENCES. [BY TELEGRAPH.-PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Last Night.
It is understood that the Hon. Mr Bryce, Defence Minister, lias telegraphed to Col. Scratchley, requesting that, if possible, he will come to New Zealand and advise the Government as to providing defeuces for the four principal ports of the colony. No reply has yet been received.
