THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN CIRCUS.
Thk proprietors of tin's really excellent bhow opened at Hamilton on Saturday night, and gave a second performance labt night. Unfortunately, botli evenings turned out wet, but, notwithstanding, the attendance was good, and the audiences on each occasion went away delighted with the entertainment. Under the able management of Mr Burton, the former proprietor, the circus was well and favorably known in the colony, and we can bear testimony to the fact that since it has fallen into the hands of Mi % Woodyear, its merit is in no way inferior. To give a detailed account of the performances, so varied and so numerous would require much more space than we have at our disposal. The horsemanship feats, the trained horse Snowflake, and the two ponies, the acrobatic feats, the feats of strength, the slack wire performance, the Japanese juggling, and last, but not least, the excellent fooling of the clowns must be seen to be fully appreciated. On Saturday night the performance con^ eluded with " Turpin's Ride to York," with tne death of " Black Bess," a wonderfully well-trained animal, and last night ''the Grand National Steeplechase," in which all the scenes on a racecourse were faithfully represented, brought the performance to a close. We cannot better show our appreciation of the circus than by advising all those of our readers who are able, to go and see it for themselves. To-day the show goes to Te Awamutu, where it will open to-night. To-morrow night it will be at Alexandra, and on Friday uighfc, by special request, it will be again at Hamilton, and at Cambridge on Saturday.
