Annual Accounts. — The Secretary then read the statement of accounts for the past year, from which it appeared that the total receipts amounted to £1970 10& Id, and the expenditure to £1664 17s 3d, leaving a balance in the bank of £310 12s lOd —The following letter was also read fioin the auditors (Me&brs Seddon and Harris): — "We, the auditors of your board, wish to express the pleasure we have had in auditing your accounts, and testify to the admirable manner in which your secretary has presented the accounts to us." — MrSeddonsaid although the money dealt with amounted to such a large sum, they were able to audit the accounts in about half-an-hour. — The Chairman of the retiring board said although there appeared to be a balance in the bank of £300 that sum would not be to the credit of the incoming boatd, as the money would be absorbed by contracts on hand. The Tan phi bridge would take nearly half the sum referred to. He belie\ ed the board was about clear. — On the motion of Mr R. Henry, seconded by Mr B. Brown, the accounts as read were adopted.
Election ok Trustees, &c— The following ratepayers weie nominated ior the office oi trustees, and there being only the required number proposed, they were declared duly elected : — Messrs T. S. Rnncinmn, A Primrose, H. Steele, A. Swarbrick and W. K. M. Lovell.— Messrs S. T. Seddon and R. Harris were re-elscted auditors, and Messrs J. Ellison and 0. Tippeu were re-appointed fenceviewers. Mr Primrose was sorry that there were so few present. He thought the ratepayers should exhibit a little more interest. He had been on the board for many years, and had given a good deal of his" time to the work. When the members of the board gave so many days surely the ratepayers could give half a day in the year. He moved » hearty vote of thanks to the chairman. — This was duly seconded and carried unanimously, and the meeting terminated.
Board Meeting. A meeting of the newly elected board was held immediately afterwards. Present : Messrs Primrose, Runciman, Steele and Lovell. Mr Primrose was reelected chairman, Mr Runciman,, treasurer, and Capt., McPherson secretary, (£23 per annum) valuator and collector, — The board's engineer, Mr Sandes, reported that the Koinokorau bridge No. 2, at Taupiri, had been completed, and passed. — The contractor having exceeded' his time by three -weeks, was mulcted in the penalties attached! to the contract. — The Ghairman said he and Mr Gillett had inspected the bridge and considered itone of the best structures in -the district.— The contractor's account was then passed for payment. j
