Mil Wright, the Government engineer, superintending the erection of the new bridge over the Waipa'at Whuthrhatihoe, lias been interviewing Tawhiao on the matter of continuing the road through the King country. Tawhino does not wish the work to be pi oceeded with at present, but lias told Mr Wright that he will put ' a stick in the giound, and the road is not to go past that. When he wishes the road to be proceeded with; he will remove the stick, and the engineer can then take that as an indication of no further obstruction.
