ALEXANDRA.

Great surprise is felt here at the announcement that only fifteen men of the A.C. are to be sent to this station. It might not be known at head-quarters that the largest barrack accommodation in Waikato is at Alexandra; it is so seldom that the commanding officer visits this station. The loaal board have telegraphed to Wellington on the subject^ Mischievous reports have been circulated among the natives that Mr Bryce intends making a raid here if all crimi- < nals are not given up. The natives are greatly disturbed by the report.—[Own Correspondent, June 23.]
