WELLINGTON, Yesterday. Information has been received that the steamer Westport is on shore in Horseshoe Bay, six miles from Akaroa Heads. No lives were lost. The captain thinks she cau be got off with assistance. Later. The steamer Westport, which lefti Timaru last night for Lyttelton, with " grain, ran ashore during the fog at two this morning in Horseshoe Bay, six miles south of Akaroa light. At low water she was dry forward, and in 7 fathoms astern. The lower' part of her stern was all twisted and broken. There is also a hole in the fore tank, and a leak in the fore hold. , Assistance was at once sent for to Lyttelton, and the crew set to work to jettyson the cargo ,to enable them to g^fi at the .leak. During the afternoon she floated off, and proceeded to Akaroa. The full extent of her injuries is not yet ascertained.
