It is officially announced that the coronation of the Czar, which was fixed for August'at Moscow, has been postponed until May next. In the meanwhile three committees will undertake the work of drafting measures for the formation of representative institutions in' Russia. The steps which may be'approved for the creating of such institutions will be aunounced to the country at the coronation ceremony.

The leaders of the American branches of the Irish Land League are making urgent appeals to sympathisers for subscriptions to the funds of the League, which have shown a heavy decrease since the Phoenix Park minders. , >

Caiko, May Arabi Pasha made a speech' to-day, in winch he openly boasted that the Sultan had decided to depose Tewfik Pasha and enthrone Prince Haliinin in his place. The panic among Europeans, owing to the critical state oi the country, is daily increasing, and there has already.'been a considerable exodus from this and other towns to Alexandria.

It has transpired that Lord Dufferin and the Marquis Deloailles, the English and French Ambassadors, have addressed a note to the Porte, requesting that Arabi Pasha, leader of the Nationalist party in Egypt, and his chief associates in the agitation, should forthwith be summoned by the Sultan to Constantinople. The Turkish ironclads stationed in Eosphorus are now engaged in coaling. It is believed it is the intention of the Porte to despatch them at once to Alexandria.

In the Legislative Assembly this evening, Sir Bryan O'Loghlen. as Colonial Treasurer, introduced his financial statement. He estimates the revenue for the present financial year at £5,520,000, and the expenditure at £5,570,000. For the year 1881-82 the revenue was £5,560,000, and the expendituie was £5,370,00. The statement proposes a reduction of duties on beer aiu^ tea, and also a reduction of the present postage rates.

Melbourne, Yesterday. An address to the liish people, signed by Messrs Longmore, Duffy, Brophy, O'Callaghan and Toohey,members of the Victorian Assembly, has been published here. It represents Ireland as under the hoof of foreign despotism, and urges that the country should receive complete freedom. Mr Patterson has given notice of motion in the Assembly, calling attention to the treasonable and seditious language employed by some of its members in the address.

Telegrams are to hand from Newcastle reporting that fully one hundred yards of Ingall-street have subsided, owing to the fall of a coal-pit underneath. No loss of life has occurred, nor has any serious damage been done, but as other streets in the town are completely undermined their position is considered dangerous.

At the sale of Campbells estate, George-street, to-day, seven shops realized a total of £95,200.

A serious fire occurred at Toowoomba, in the Darling district, resulting ,in the destruction of several houses, "the insurances include £250 in National Company of New Zealand.
