AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS IN ENGLAND. [REUTERS TELEGRAMS.] London, May 29.
A. cricket match was commenced to-day at Cambridge, between the Australians and. the Eleven of Cambridge Unis'ersity. The weather was fine and very hot. A capital wicket was pitched, and the ground was in good order. There was a large attendance, and the greatest interest was taken in the match. The Australians went m first, and were all disposed of for 139. The highest scores were : Ma&sie with 37, caught, and A. Bannermaii 50, bowled. The bowling of the Cambridge men was dead on the wicket, and their fielding was excellent. The University eleven then went in for their first innings, and when the stumps were drawn for the day they had put together 187 for the loss of only four wickets. Mr G. B. Studd tcored 42, and Mr C. T. Studd is not out for S3. The Australians met with a cordial reception on going to the field. They will be entertained at dinner to-morrow by Dr. Portur, the Vice-Chancellor of the University.
