New York, May 17. The steamers of all Atlantic Lines are now carefully searched by the police on arrival here, with a view of discovering the Phcenix Park assassins.
Cairo, May 18. It has transpired that the foreign Co nsuls, acting under the instruction of their Governments will demand of the Khedive that the Egyptian army should forthwith be disbanded, and all rebellious officers banished. It is stated that in view of the present position of affairs, the Turkish Government will probably despatch a fleet of ironclads to Alexandria.
Sydney, Yesterday. Sailed : Yesterday afternoon, the s.s. City of York, for Auckland.
Adelaide, Yesterday. The police having impounded the sum of £700 found upon the defaulter Harjes ; the question has arisen as to whether the sum should be available for the Adelaide or New Zealand creditors. The amount has . consequently been handed over to the official receiver.
