THE LATEST. London, May 9, Evening.
The police have arrested a cabman, in Dublin, who is believed to have been employed by the Phoenix Park assassins, and it is supposed that a clue to the murderer has been obtained. It ia announced that Mr George Otto Trevelyan, Secretary to the Admiralty, has been appointed Chief Secretary for Ireland, but without a seat in the Cabinet. The statement circulated yesterday that the Lord Mayor of London had been requested to summon a public meeting with the object of petitioning the Queen to dissolve Parliament, is authoritatively denied. A person recently arrived from the United States lias been arrested by the police in Ireland on suspicion of being concerned In the work of the Land League.
