LATEST AUCKLAND NEWS. [BY TELEGRAPH OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Auckland, Last Night.
Dkacox, a publican, was lined to-day for withdrawing beer from a cask without destroying the stamp. The race horses My Dream and Maori were offered for sale by auction to-day, but both were withdrawn ; the former at £78, and the latter at £120. At the Board of Education to-day, the statement showed 210 schools, with an attendance at the beginning of the quarter of 14,938 ; and at the end of the quarter of 10,234, with an average of 12,696. The fiual meeting of Tawhiao's Reception Committee resolved to pay Dunningham and King's disputed bill £187 the deficiency to be made up by subscription. A wooden culvert gave way on the Kaipara railway owing to the heavy rains causing a sinking of the line. Fortunately, the accident was observed before the train reached the spot. The Waiuku search party have returned, They were unsuccessful in finding W. Kohl's body. It is feared he is drowned in deep water, and will not be found for some days.
