THE MOKAU LANDS AND TE WETERE.

The following letter has been published in the Taranuki Herald :—: — Mokau, April 14, 1882, To the Editor of the Tarauaki Herald. — Please to insert my words in your newspaper, so that our Maori friends and pakeha friends may see that I do not wish the time to pass over for the good works that I have commenced r(£.c, the sitting of the Land Court, &c), but I wish them to be continued without delay. — Wjstekk i TJB TjiKRKNCU. , • Frikndx, — I have received a ' letter from Mr Dickey, the Registrar of the Native Lands Court, Auckland, requesting the people of Mokau to send in their claims (to the land), and the claims of the people of Mokau have been sent on. Now, we will wait and see if Tawhiao will send in his claims (to Mokau), so that we may see the justice ot his works, and of his bringtng on trouble again. We ■will wait for the day of the sitting of the Court. The people who have claims will, not stop away from the sitting of that Court, out they will attend there to sub-; stantiate their claims. Tawtiiao may come, or he may nob come, to the Court ; he has.no .claims. My work is not a work of trouble, but a desire to see justice done for the people. Listen ? I have heard of some words spoken in the Aucklaud newspaper, (the Herald) by a European of Te Awamutu (C. 0. Davis), This European has no claims mi Mokau.' I do not know this man, nor- any -land belonging to him. If he has any claims he should speak to Manga (Rewi) Mauiopoto about our work at Mokau, but as he has. not, his work is, shameful in interfering in business that does not belong to him. We are only working in reference to our own lands at Mokau. I did not go to work on his place at Te Awamutu. He ought to know How the scud (or clouds)' flies* in the heavens. It is approaching summer:/ This4s all;I have ,to say about that man for his troublesome work. This ; is all from Wetere Te Rererenga. * - ' " - a
