A STRANGE DISAPPEAR ANCE. (BY TELEGRAPH, OWN ' CORRESPONDENT.) TAURANGA, Tuesday.
Tux Bay of Plenty Times has received the following from its Maketu correspondent this morning. "On Sunday a black gelding, partly shod, was found at Tarorowhetu. between- Maketu and Waihi. Afterwards a saddle and courier bag containing' a reporter's slips, two spurs and a shirt were picked up at the mouth of the .Waihi river. They evidently, belong to the travelling reporter of the Bay ef Plenty Times who must have met with some/ (probably fatal) accident. The reporter's name was J. J. Palmer." Mr E. M., Edgcumbe, accompanied by a mounted orderly, has just left«,here for Maketu.
