WESLEYAN CHURCH, QUARTERLY, MEETING, WAIKATO CIRCUIT.
The quarterly meeting of this circuit was held in the Cambridge church on Monday, and was largely attended, twentysix officials being present. Several visitors were also present, Rev. C. Griffith, Messrs S. Stewart and Thorne. Great interest was shown in the proceedings, this being partly accounted for from the fact that it was the final meeting oflHbhe circuit prior to its threefold divisfctg*^ Mr B. Rothwell presented himself, jjd* cording to the rules of the church, for theological examination, he having been a year on trial as a local preacher. The chairman of the meeting, the Rev. H. Bull, conducted the examination. The answers given were considered satisfactory, and on the motion of the Rev. 0. Griffin, Mr Rothwell was admitted as a fully accredited member of the local preachers' meeting. the future Wesleyan ministers of Waikato. Ohaupo was included in the Cambridge circuit, and Mr Huuter, senr., appointed society steward. Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Pukete, and Avondale were included in the Hamilton circuit. The appointment of stewards was the next business. Circuit stewards for Cambridge, Messrs H. Buttle and R. Reynolds ; for Hamilton, Messrs G. French and R. N. Buttle; for Te Awamutu, Messrs J. W. Bridgman and John Glass. Society stewards : Hamilton, Mr Thomas Maunder, with Mr H. P. Macpherson as sac. steward ; Huntly, Mr J, Cadman ; Ngaruawahia and Avondale, Mr T. Bruton; Pukete, Mr W. Harris; Te Awamutu, Mr James R. Wright, with Mr"J. Roffey as sac. steward; MangapikofrMr John Gibson. Votes of thanks were -passed to' Messrs H. Buttle and R. Reynolds for their valuable and able services in managing the financial affairs of the circuit for several years past. The services of the retiring ministers, the Revs.,H. Bull and C. Griffin, were also suitably, recognised. Mr Stewart then engafeetfih prayer, and the benediction waa ij>rdnounced upon the members of the last quarterly meeting of the Waikato circuit.
