THE LATE MR B. EDWARDS.
In to-day's issue the death is announced of Mr B.\ Edwards, so long and favorably "known in WaiUato as coach proprietor and livery-stable keeper. The event, which was not unexpected, took place at 6 o'clock yesterday morning, at the deceased's residence, Frankton, near Hamilton. Mr Edwards had "been ailing for some time, but up to the" evening before his death he appeared to be getting better," though his medical attendants had little hope of his permanent recovery. On Friday he was in Hamilton, and drove his 'bus home in the evening, but on Saturday he was conveyed to his bed, from which he did not rise again. The cause of death was acute bronchitis. Mr Edwards has been connected with the Waikato in different capacities for very many years. During the war he was in the employment of Mr W. Buckland, who had the contract to supply the troops with meat; afterwards, as driver of Quick's coach, and subsequently as inspector in the same employment he was very familiar to Waikato residents. About five years ago he took over the stables attached to Grwynne's Hotel, Hamilton, which hie continued to occupy \ip to the time of his death. His wellknown figure at the railway station will be greatly missed by those whose duty or whose pleasure led them thither, and their regret at the sudden removal of one whom they kuew so well will be genuine. He was comparatively a young man, being somewhat under fifty, but his corpulent habit precluded the possibility of his attaining to a great age. Mr Edwards leaves a widow and two young children, who will we believe be left in fairly comfortable circumstances. The funeral will take place at 3.30 p.m. today.
