RUAPUKE.

The annual meeting of householders in this district for the election of a school committee was held in the schoolroom, on the 18th hist. Mi- W. Duncan was called to the chair. The annual report ami balance sheet was then read and duly adopted. The report was of a satisfactory character. The attendance of children at the school still continues to be good. The school grounds have been much improved in appearance during the past year by the ci'cctiou oi swings, trapeze, and horizontal bais, aa liicli have been put up in a most substantial and workmanlike manner by Liddell and .Son. It is also intended to plant a number of pine trees round the play-ground, which will still further improve its aspect. The following were elected to form a committee for the ensuing year, viz :—: — Messrs William Duncan, William Liddell, John Jackson, Robert Ormsby, James Phillips, Thomas Ward, and James Swan. At a subsequent meeting of the new committee, Mr W. Liddell was. on the motion of Messrs Duncan and Ward, elected chairman. The committee voted for Messrs Claik, Laishley, and Peacock to fill the vacances in the Auckland Boaul of Education. At the annual meeting of the subscribers to the Ruapuke Public Library, held immediately after the school meeting, a most satisfactory annual report Mas also presented. Mr W. Johnstone's resignation as treasurer was accepted, and Mr W. Duncan was elected president and treasurer for the ensuing year. — (Own correspondent).
