TA WHIA O'S GREE A T MEETING.
The following is a copy of a letter addressed to His Worship the Mayor of Hamilton by Tawhiao, inviting Europeans to his great meeting near Alexandra, which it now appears is to be held in May and not March :—
"Whatiwhatihoe, Alexandra, Waipa, l'epuere 13, 1882. Kia Hone Naki, Mca. — Tena koe. Kuatukua atu cau te kupu kia. Karaka, mca, Auckland, kia tukua atu He Panuitanga Kinga Pakeha katoa Kinga Rangitira., Kinga Roia, Kinga Tangrata, Tiaki Paamu, Tiaki Toa, Paparakaihe, Humeka, Paiakimete, Whiu Kaata, mete iwi nui katoa, kia haeremai, kei konci, te ; *raaehc. Kote 1 onga ra o Jlci, te ra i wbakaatu ria hei tarenga mai Xi konci. Tctchi o aku kupu, i mea atu ai. Konga Taone o roto o VVaikato kei au heritenga. Koia taku kupu kia koe, ara, kia koutou konga meae Hiabia ana kite Hearemai Hearomai. Kei kiia i hnna te kupu. Naku tonu tenei kupo. Na Kingi Tawhiao.
Whatiwhatihoe, Ale.\andra,\Vaipa, February 13th, 1882. i To John Kyox, ifayor,— Greetings. - I have sent the word to Clark ? ..Mayor of Auckland, to give notice to all the Europeans, to the gentlemen to lawyers, to farmers, storekeepers, publicans, shoemakers, blacksmiths and carters, and the people generally, to come here, (te macho*) The Ist 'of May was the day mentioned for arrival here. I also said I would arrange about Waikato townships, and this is my word , to you all, to thoso who desire to come, come, lest it should be said the word was hidden.' L " " ?
