NELSON, Last Night.

A fire broke out during church hours last evening in the centre of a range of stables occupied by Oewdson (tramway proprietor), Thomas (cab proprietor), and Pickard (storekeeper). Oewdson had one horse burned to death and one tramcar partially destroyed. The stables were completely destroyed, and Crewdson's dwelling-house and another building were with difficulty saved by a splendid force of water. The only insurance is £100 in the Liverpool and London and £50 in the South British. A discovery of a gold-bearing reef, sffc. thick, at Mount Owen, about 80 miles from town by the present road, is reported.
