DISRICTCOURT, HAMILTON. Tuesday. — [Before His Honor Judge Macdonald.] Civil Cases.
Wm. Oliver v. Major Te Wheoro—Claim £44 17s for goods' supplied to certain natives. —Mr O'Neill appeared for plaintiff and Mr Hay for defendant. —The defence set up and supported by the evidence of several natives was that the goods were supplied without defendant's instructions. The plaintiff was nonsuited, with costs £12 19s 6d. H. Willoughby v. E. B. Walker.—Mr Speed for plaintiff and Mr Beale for defendant.—The claim was for £109, being balance of an account for draining, fencing, &c. Plaintiff abandoned the excess over £100 in order to bring the case within the jurisdiction of the Court. Defendant filed a lengthy set off, s and after considerable evidence had been taken the Court gave judgment for plaintiff for £7 3s 4d, and a portion of the costs, amounting to £4 3s. The Court then adjourned.
