Wellington, last night.— An Associa- » tion wire reports : — A peculiar question '' has arisen under the new Licensing Act. The present Licensing Bench, of course, j ceased to exist the moment the new licensing districts were proclaimed, which took place about a week ago, and i* as at least a fortnight must elapse before r the committees can be elected, the question arises as to whether any licenses ) can be granted under the new Act, which 1 will be legal to sell liquor on racecourse I on Thursday and Friday next.
