New Plymouth, last night.— Our correspondent wires :— The hon, the Premier arrived here last night. Kaikoura, last night. — Our correspondent wires : — A ship's boat, 25 feet long, was picked up on the beach, three miles north of Clarence river on Tuesday. It was painted green, with a black gunwale, and has the words Gannymede 1., Adelaide, painted on the stern. Wellington, last night. — Our correspondent wires : — Libeller has been scratched for all engagements at the forthcoming race meeting. — An eighty yards foot race for £25 a-side, between Selby, one of the English cricketing team, and Frank Woods, a local ped, took place to-day. Woods allowed Selby two yards of a start. Woods overhauled Selby at twenty yards, and won rather easily by three yards. — The Governor, has declined to remit the fine imposed on Chinamen for playing fan-tan. Ohristohurch, last night. — Our correspondent wires : — The agent for MeCormick's reaper and binder being dissatisfied with the result of the recent trial of their reapers and binders under the auspices of the Agricultural Society, has challenged the agent for the Wood machine to a special trial for £50 aside. — Yesterday "Struck Oil" was concluded. It run ten nights afr the Theatre Royal. . — The foundation stone of the exhibition building will be laid by the Mayor on Monday next.
