DISASTERS BY FIRE. [BY TELEGRAPH.]
Auckland, last night.— Our correspondent wires:— A fire occurred in Uniohstreet, which burned clown the house occupied by Cox, grocer. Insured 'in South British for £75. , Blenheim, last night. — Our correspondent wires : — At midnight last night fire broke out in the midst of a thickly built block situated in the centre of the town. It spread with great rapidity, burning to the ground the Lyceum Hall and four dwelling-houses close by and the back part of Healey and Son's warehouse. Falconer's furniture warehouse was ion fire several times, and was only saved! by the strenuous exertions of the fire brigade, aided by willing assistants. Luckily there was no wind, or the greater portion of the business part of the town would have been swept away.
