WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The above council held a special meeting at Ohaupo on Tuesday, January 10th, for the pui'pose of confirming or otherwise the action of the Hamilton District Board in the alteration of certain roads. Councillois Hadfield, Lindsay, Scott, Bruce, Steele, and Buttle (chairman) were present. The plans and other documents in connection therewith were duly laid on the table and discussed. — Cr. Steele proposed, and Cr. Hadfield seconded, " That the action of the Hamilton District Board in altering roads in their district, as shown by the plans, be confirmed." Carried. An ordinary meeting was then held, whereat Crs. Roche and Teesdale were also pi'esent. — Con'espondence was read relating to the payment of auctioneers' fees, and Cr. Steele proposed, and Cr. Hadfield seconded, " That another application be made to the Colonial Secretary for a refund of last year's auctioneers'. 1' cense fees. Carried. — Several communications were received upon the, question of dog tax. The Chairman also reported what arrangements had been made. — Cr. Steele proposed, and Cr. Scott secended, "That this cotincilconfirm the action of the chairman in providing dog collars, and that the offer of Mr hates, to supply collars at 9s per dozen, be accepted. Carried. — Upon the question of amount of fee for registration, several proposals were made and rejected. Ultimately it was resolved -"'That all owners of dogs shall have one sheep or cattle dog at ss, and all other dogs at 10s per annum. — The clerk was directed to notify registrars of < the new scale of 1 fees, and also that the, remuneration would be at the rate of one shilling per license. — Crs. Lindsay and Roche re--' ported upon the worlc' necessary "to the Ngaruawahia ferry, > which -the council authorised. — Letters were also received, from T. Y. Fitzpatrick, Es<j., offering to take care of the punt and give a road for, . ferry • purposss, which -was~accepted J By the council,, and, r the cleric was directed to convey- to 'Mr "Fitzpatrick the thanks of the council for <his offer., . Committees having been duly chosen for the ensuing year, Cf. Roche' gave notice of motion for next , meeting, r , ."
