THE NEW RAIL WAY TARIFF. [BY TELEGRAPH.] Wellington, Last Night.

The new railway tariff has been gazetted. It makes a number of reductions in the rates of freight. A reduction has been made in the charge for carriage of wheat, barley and oats. The reductions also applies to the freight on earthenware, demijohns, fungus, flax, matting, and a specially low rate for butter and empties. The extent of the reduction on grain may be illustrated by the carriage of a ton from Auckland to Ngaruawahia, 74 miles. The former rate was 13s 8d ; the new one 11s lOd.
