WESLEYAN CHURCH WAIKATO.
The quarterly meeting of the Waikato Circuit Wesleyan Church was held on Monday at the residence of Mr R. Reynolds, Wai Valley. The stewards and local preachers were entertained at a 12 o'clock luncheon by Mrs Reynolds. There were fifteen representativeb present — this number being smaller _ than usual owin<» to the Christmas holidays. The Rev. H. Bull occupied the chair. The number of members was 86 with 10 on trial for membership, 5 catechumens, and 16 communicants. The income for the quarter was £160 12s 2d, and the expenditure £163 19s 4d. Applications were received and favourably considered from the settlers in three districts to have the same taken on the circuit plan and supplied with services. On the motion of Mr E. B. Walker, seconded by Mr G. Manners, it was decided to invite special offertories on a selected Sunday during the quarter to remove a debt of about £20 resting on the circuit, thus enabling the out-going ministers to leave the circuit free from all financial obligations. The secretary was requested to convey the cordial thanks of the meeting to the Rev. J. F. Mandeno for his efficient and acceptable pulpit services at Te Awamutu. The able and painstaking services of the circuit stewards, Messrs. H. Buttle, and R. Reynolds, were suitably recognized, and they were unanimously re-appointed to the circuit stewardship for another year. The society and sacramental stewards were also appointed for 1882. The hearty thanks of the meeting were ordered to be conveyed to the several organists and choirmasters throughout the circuit for musical services rendered during the past year. Mr Walker thought the time had come when a Wesleyan Church should be erected in Cambridge West, and offered £10 towards that object. The matter was warmly taken up by the meeting and a good sum at once subscribed, tenders to be invited for the new building in a few weeks. Rev. C. Griffin intimated that arrangements had been made for Rev. T. Spurgeon to open the new Hamilton Church on January 10th, and that a soiree would be held the following evening, and he hoped to see the circnit well represented on those occasions. This concluded the business of the quarter. It was decided to hold the next meeting in Cambridge, and the circuit stewards were appointed a committee to make the necessary arrangements. The members of the meeting were then shown round . the Wai Valley estate, and afterwards • sat <lowmto a sumptuous- repast provided by Mrs. Reynolds. The meeting broke up an good time, and everyone appeared to be well pleased with the visit to Wai Valley,
