Our zVucbland correspondent wires last night : — At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce to-day Mr Gamble explained a proposal of the Pacific Mail Company to grant a free passage to any delegate from New Zealand going to Washington to urge the reduction of the wool duty. Mr Nathan proposed and Mr Lamb seconded, "That this Chamber is of opinion that representatives from the New Zealand Government, to act with Sir Henry Parkes, should be sent to Washington to urge upon the Government of the United States the importance of reducing their preseut wool tariff as far as New Zealand is concerned ; and that a committee of this Chamber be requested to interview the hon. Mr Whitaker to urge upon him the importance of sending such representative.
