LATEST NATIVE NEWS. (BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Parahaka, Dast Night.

The monthly meeting on Saturday was a bare shadow of former gatherings, the celebration of Te Whiti's great day being confined to an assembly in silence, and an attempt at the usual feasting. Probably the fear of at rest presented anyone from speaking. It was anticipated by the authorities that a large gathering would ensue along the coabt, and mounted men were dispatched to various settlements, but no such assembly was found. Nevertheless, the day was observed by every tribe accustomed to visit Parihaka, as a day of rest and feasting. The men who came from Ngatiwanui are engaged in weeding their cultivations. The goods of natives taken from the pah have been moved into the new camp for better security against theft. The owners show no alacrity in returning to claim them, and only a small portion have been removed. The wires stretched from Pungarehu to the Parihaka office were opened for the firs^ time this morning. The survey of the whole of the land in the district, native or Government, is being proceeded with, and the policy of settlement will at last be carried out. Many cartages have been found along the public roads, said to have been dropped by the volunteers.
