Our correspondent last night wires : — A number of gentlemen left to-day for trawling cruise in tlie Hauraki Gulf, for the purpose of ascertaining what success might be expected from a deep sea fishing enterprise. At the Police Court to-day the charge of burglariously entering Hazel's shop in Symonds-street against Plummer was closed, and the charge of breaking into Heath's boot shop adjacent was commenced. At Warkwoith the official declaration of the poll for Rodney took place at the Court-house there, Mr Ingove, Returning Officer, presiding. The figuies declared were -.—George, 444 ; Shepheid, 331 ; Farnall, 28. Majority for George, 93. George was the only candidate present. The Returning OSiccr stated that he had received a telegram from Shepherd, saying he was unable to ba present. George then thanked the electors for giving him more votes than his two opponents together. Had no influence been used by the laiger employers of labour at Waitoa against him, he (George) would have also had a majority there. His majority in the old electorate was more than the numbers polled by his opponents.
