A. Reutek'ss telegram to hand last night reports the following, under date London, December 15th :—: — Consols have declined &to 995. "New Zealand securities are firm at last quotations. Colonial breadstuff's and tallow unchanged. A fund has been started for the relief of distressed Irish women. The Queen subscribed £200. Other large contributions have already been received. Intelligence has been received from Tunis that certain Tunisian Government officials have forcibly expelled the workmen of Levy, a British subject, from the estate of Akafida, the ownership of which has for a long time past been in dispue. After the removal of Levy's employe's the Tunisians installed a number of French workmen in their place and the latter are now in possession of the estate. Paris dates to the 14th report : — The French Ultrainontanists lately published an article in reference to the situation of the P.ipal See. The papers concur in stating that the Pope's position has become untenable, and that the question of His Holiness' departure from Rome is now seriously mooted.
