MANGAPIKO HIGHWAY BOARD.
Thb trustees held their regular monthly meeting on Saturday last, Messrs Scott, Robinson, Gregory, and Griewon beinj? present. — The secretary reported that the purchase money for the road through the Paterangi school grounds had been paid, and the documents were signed by the chairman. —Tenders were opened for the erecion of the Mang&piko bridge, after much disoussion the tender of T. S. Meredith for 7s per hundred feet wae accepted, subject to the deposit being paid. For the cutting near Mr Ormsby's buah the tender of 0. McCallum was accepted at7Jd per yard, — The engineer's report upon the proposed xoad to Ohaupo via Mr Gubbin's farm was brought up, and Mr W. Higginson waited oa the bßoard to urge forward this work. The 'report showing the £250 granted by Go* vernment was totally inadequate for he work, the Board decided to request the Government to either largely increase the grant or else to hand it over to the County Council to carry out. —Plans of the road deviation through Mr Tole'i farm were alio brought up. The secretary was ordered to take the neoesaary preliminary wteps to ; close the original road.— The Board being unanimous in not preparing the new valuation themselves, appointed Mr Mauider as valuer.— Authority was given Mr Robinson to accept tenders for «ome email job* on the To Rora road«.
