WAIPA ELECTION. RESULT OF THE POLL. Majority for Mr Whitaker.
Thk polling for the election of » member to represent Waipa in the House of Representatives, came off yesterday. All over the district the contest waa, we are pleased to state, conducted with the utmost good humour, and very little party spirit was displayed. The result, as will be seen from the following, gives Mr Whitalcer a majority of 42 over the candidate who polled the next highest number of votes :—: —
Majority for Whitaker over Jackson, 42; over Johns, 196. The official declaration of the poll will be made on Tueiday next, the 13th inst,, at the Court-house. Hamilton, at noon.
