MELBOURNE MARKETS.
Messrs Goldsbroujfh & Co., report under date Melbourne, November 22. — Wool : The season is now in full operation, and large sales have been held during the month, the quantity catalogued being 75, 5.50 bales, of which 56,738 bales have been sold, making a total of 62, 6.53 bales disposed of siuce the opening of the season on the 12th October. Ciossbrods are selling 1 well, more esueciully the finer errades, for which there is a good demand, and prices range for this description from 9d to ll^d, one small choice nam pie fetching the high price of lojd. ; The proportion of fleece washed and scoured submitted up to thia date has been limitpd, owing to the scarcity of water on the back btations and the anticipated demand for America. The few good lots offered, however, have nold well prices ruling from 18£ d to 23} d, the latter being obtained for a superior clip of 63 bales from the Wiramera district. Scoured has also sold well, and some large parcels have been disposed of at from 21|d to 22f d per pouud. Prom latest advices to hand we learn that the woollen industry on the Continent, and also in Amcric.i, is actively employed ; consequently there is every reason to expect that the concluding series wf the London- ' Colonial sales, which open to-day, will pass of satisfactorily. Tiie home trade, however, continues dull, and there are as yet no definite signs of revival. The probable avail i hie quantity is estimated at 130,000 bales or about the same as Libt year ; and should no political complications arise, there seems nothing to prevent the whole pacing at once into conhumption, as manufacturers in many in.stuiiceb areieported to bo baro of stock.
