CORRESPONDENCE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— l observe a remark in your report of my address to the electors at Cambridge West, which I beg to say is utterly untrue. I am made to say "that I would not support Sir George Grey in his wild and impracticable vagaries." What I did say, in teply to a question whether I was "a thick and thin suppoiter of Sir George Grey," was that I would support him "in everything tending to the furtherance of the piinciples I had enunciated, but no further." I trust you will give this publicity. Mr Whitaker's supporters must have a weak cause when they descend to untruths.— l am, etc., Wm. Johns. [We are glad at all times to correct any errors such as that complained of by Mr Johns, but we must take strong exception to the ungenerous insinuation in the last sentence. Our reports of all meetings have been made as fair and impartial as possible, and the one in question was forwarded by a correspondent who is not a follower of either one candidate or the other.— Ed.]

TO THE KDITOK. Sir, — A report being circulated by certain of Major Jackson's supporters that I am going to withdraw from the contest for Wai pa, I beg most empatically to contiadict this. As a thoiough liberal, I fight the battle of liberalism rrnm land monopoly. I go to the poll, and have no fear of the result. — I am, etc., W. Johns.
