MR F. A. WHITAKER AT NGARUAWAHIA.
Mr F. A. v hifc.iker addressed the electors of W-upa at Ngaruawahia, on Saturday evening. There were close upon 100 persons present, and the chair was occupied by Mr E. yimmelhag 1 in a very effi« cienfc manner. Mr Whitaker dwelt at some length on most of the leading topics of the day. The speech which occupied an hour and ten minutes, was frequently applauded. At the close of the address, several questions were put to the candidate and answered to the satisfaction of those present, after which a vote of thanka was moved, seconded, and carried, Mr B. Fitzpatrick then rose and stated that he thought the meeting should go further. They had heard the other candida^ea, and he thought it was now time that they came to some definite conclusion. He had had considerable public business to transact with Mr F. A. Whitaker, and had observed what had been done for the country and the district, and he therefore begged to propose a vote of confidence in Mr Whitaker. This was seconded by Mr Moffit, and on being put to the meeting, 40 hands were hold up for it, and seven against. The motion waa therefore declared carried. After the usual vote of thanks to the chair, moved by Mr E. Fitzpatrick, and seconded by Mr Whitaker the meeting terminated.
